As we travel in South America looking for designers, we come across great design objects everywhere. Here are some of our favorites.
Chilean Design
We’ve spent most of our time in Santiago, Chile as we travel through South America looking for products.
Santiago has more talent than we could have imagined. And perhaps because we’re new arrivals, we’ve been welcome just about everywhere. I’ve spoken with more designers, professors of design, and manufacturers in one week than I could have anywhere else.
The creativity we’re seeing here is impressive. Wooden briefcases. Concrete speakers. Hand woven textiles. And all done with a distinct style that could very well be unique to Chile.
We don’t know if Santiago is the next great design center. But it feels like it.
